Okuizumo Cycling Terminal, Japan.

Okuizumo Cycling Terminal 奥出雲町サイクリングターミナル

At one point there were about 50 Cycling Terminals scattered across Japan offering budget accommodations geared towards, but not limited to, cyclists. Most were operated by local governments and so were able to offer reasonable prices, and while some have closed and some have been sold off to private enterprise there are still about three dozen in operation. Many are located near major cycle routes but the one in Okuizumo, however, Okuizumo Cycling Terminal, in the mountains of Shimane, is just in a scenic and quiet area.

All the rooms are fairly large and suitable for small groups or families, though they are also  available for single travelers as well. There are Japanese style rooms with futons and tatami in addition to western style rooms with beds.

The Japanese rooms and smaller western-style rooms have no en-suite toilet or bathrooms but the larger western-style rooms do have en-suite toilet and bathroom. The public bathrooms are large and onsen-style. Internet, kettle, TV, fridge etc are on hand in all the rooms.
